Why Join PACC?
By becoming part of PACC, you’ll join a dedicated group of volunteers working together to improve health care in the Kootenay Boundary region. We collaborate with organizations like the Kootenay Boundary Division of Family Practice and Interior Health to ensure patients have a say in shaping our health care system.
Your voice matters! By participating, you’ll help:
- Strengthen patient and family engagement.
- Influence health care system changes.
- Empower people to become informed and active health care partners.
What to Expect
- Meetings: Monthly, lasting about 2 hours, on a mutually agreed weekday.
- Location: Virtual via Zoom, with at least one annual in-person meeting in Castlegar.
- Commitment: Beyond meetings, occasional email or phone input.
- Team: Work alongside 8–12 committee members, supported by the KB Division of Family Practice and Interior Health.
What We Do
PACC has been driving change since 2019. Recent accomplishments include:
- Supporting the rollout of the KB Primary Care Network (PCN) for better care access.
- Launching the Empowering the Citizen Patient Campaign with 12 educational articles.
- Collaborating with Selkirk College’s Pre-Med Program to influence student research.
- Creating tools like patient navigation maps to prepare for surgery.
As part of the Kootenay Boundary Collaborative Services Committee (CSC), we provide feedback to healthcare leaders, participate in learning events, and shape initiatives that impact primary care as well as acute, community, and long-term care.
Let’s Make a Difference Together
Together, we’re building a more inclusive, patient-centered health care system. The more voices and diversity we have, the better we can represent our communities. Let’s make health care better for everyone. PACC participation is inclusive and open to residents across the region.
